Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
